Pure Kakaw is a ceremonial cacao brand based in Amsterdam. Its name comes from the Mayan word kakaw. It buys its cacao directly from the farms, with three aims: bringing traditional cacao drinks back into daily life, supporting agroforestry, and making the supply chain more transparent and fair.
What we did
- Two origin films: Finca El Porvenir (Guatemala) and Finca Paytiti (Peru)
- An interview with Beronica about growing cacao in Guatemala
- Concept, camera and editing for all three pieces
The story
For Pure Kakaw’s Cacao Origin series we filmed in two countries. In Peru, at Finca Paytiti, we followed cacao from an organic food forest through to the finished drink. In Guatemala we filmed Finca El Porvenir in Alta Verapaz, and an interview with Beronica about growing cacao there.
